The Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO), in cooperation with the Association of Energy Engineers, has established the Certified Measurement and Verification Professional program with the dual purpose of recognizing the most qualified professionals in this growing area of the energy industry, and raising the overall professional standards within the measurement and verification field.
EVO offers worldwide the Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) designation. The right to use the CMVP title is granted to those who demonstrate proficiency in the M&V field by passing a 4-hour written exam and meeting the required academic and practical qualifications. EVO's certification level training is offered as preparation for the exam and as a review of basic principles for experts.

The four-hour CMVP exam is administered in conjunction with the Fundamentals of Measurement & Verification 2.5-3-day training program. The examination questions are based on concepts and experiences basic to measurement and verification. The exam is open book, and the questions are a mixture of multiple choices and true or false. A minimum pass rate of 70% on the examination is required. All CMVP exam results are final. Individual reviews of exams are not permitted after scores are announced. AEE and EVO are not at liberty to discuss exam questions or correct answers.
Examinations are identified by number rather than by name to assure confidentiality and objective grading.
The written M&V examination deals with such subjects as:
Reasons for M&V
Current M&V Projects
Developing an M&V Plan
Current Issues in M&V
Key Elements of Success: Theory & Examples of IPMVP Options
Selecting Options: Which One Is Best Suited for My Project?

The AEE certification director keeps examination scores on file for a period of three years. Applicants who do not receive certification status can request that their applications be resubmitted to the CMVP Board, if during that three -year period their exam score, education or experience lebel changes.
EVO M&V trainings are listed here. In order to register, just follow the link of the training. In case there's no link, please contact Desi at firstname.lastname@example.org so that she can direct you to the appropriate EVO training partner.
The CMVP exam is administered at each Fundamentals of Measurement and Verification seminar site, at the end of the seminar. Upon registration for the training you will receive by e-mail the CMVP application form which you should complete carefully and turn back before the training.
Within thirty to sixty days of the date of the exam, you will be notified of your score. It will be sent to you only if you have duly paid your training and certification fee before the training. Do not call EVO about your test results before the end of the sixty-days period. Exam results are not available on the EVO website.
If you receive a passing score and have paid the examination fee, and if your file is complete, including all supporting documents, your file will be sent to the Certification Board for final review. You will be notified at that time that you will receive the Board's approval or denial within sixty days.
A Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) may use the designation with name on organizaiton letterhead, business cards, and all forms of address.
Certificaiton is for individuals only. The CMVP designation may not be used to imply that an organization, firm or project is certified.
For information on maintaining oyur certificaiton, please go to the CMVP Renewal webpage.
A fee of US$ 300 is required for renewal of your CMVP certification every three years. If you do not renew your certification by your renewal date, you will be required to retake the exam to be reinstated. It is therefore important to inform EVO and AEE if your address changes. Failure to do so will delay your receipt of your renewal notice, and may result in you being required to retake the exam.
