The Energy Efficiency Council recommends the CMVP for accreditation of M&V specialists

The City of Toronto began requiring that all of its evaluators of claims for electrical savings incentives have a CMVP, for its Better Buildings Partnership ? Existing Buildings (http://www.toronto.ca/bbp/). This requirement was listed in a May 2009 RFP for engineering services.

Program Rules of the Ontario Power Authority's Industrial Energy Efficiency Program - requires CMVOs to certify M&V Plans and savings reports.

Abstract a.. Page 63, footnote 60 under "Skills Required for M&V," states: "The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) offers a certificate for a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a Certified Measurement and Verification professional (CMVP). The material covered in the CEM program is good background for understanding energy engineering concepts addressed by measurement and verification. The CMVP program provides additional training and certification specific to M&V projects."

Abstract "British Columbia Hydro's Transmission Service Rate Stepped Rate is available to large industrial customers. A significant conservation incentive is embedded in the rate structure and for customers to take advantage of this, they must perform an Impact Study on their demand side management projects and plant capacity increase projects. This study must be performed by an independent engineer who has a CVMP or has demonstrated proficiency in M&V, amongst other requirements. For projects with estimated savings less than 2 GWH/year, a customer can prepare its own Study if it has demonstrated the same M&V proficiency and experience as is required of third party consultants."
